Jim Smith's Visit

Before the Easter holidays Grange Primary were lucky enough to have a visit from Jim Smith, the author of the Barry Loser story books, aranged by Just Imagine Bookshop in Chelmsford.  Years 3,4,5 & 6 spent the morning with the author in a workshop, in which he showed them how to draw illustrations from his books and the children were given the opportunity to ask Jim questions about his work and how he got his inspiration to create his characters for the books.  Jim took the time to sign all the children's pre-ordered books and customised each one with a quirky characateur.

Would you like to win some of Jim's prizes that he left with us after his visit to the school?

Well, you can enter one, or even both of our competitions to have a chance of winning one of Jim's prizes.

Competition One

Write a letter to Jim telling him of your ideas for a new Barry Loser character.  Remember to include the VCOP that we learn and any writing tips that you have discussed in class.  Address the letter to Jim Smith at our school address.  Don't forget to include YOUR name, class and age.

Competition Two

Draw a new character for one of Jim's books.  Remember to include all of their features.

The competitions will be judged by members of the school staff and the winners will be awarded their prizes during an Assembly .

The closing date is 19th May and winners will be announced on the 23rd May.

Please send all entries to Mrs Greenhill in Chestnut Class.

Thank you as always for your support and Good Luck !

Bumped Heads

As you may have seen-we have been supplying wristbands in the event of a child bumping their head (along with a "Bumped Head" letter).  This is to make you immediately aware should your child become poorly-that they have had a "Bump" in school.

Once you have seen the band then please remove it for the following day.

Many thanks.
