Severe Weather Plan

Please note that staff at Grange School will do their utmost to ensure that the school remains open in the event of severe weather conditions.  However, if we cannot maintain sufficient staffing levels (teachers, LSAs, MDAs, office staff) due to problems with travel, we will have to close on Health and Safety grounds.

As long as we are able to receive deliveries of fresh food, we will continue to provide a hot meal service.  However, there may be some deviation from the published menu.  Notice will be given should all children be required to bring a packed lunch.

Please be aware that after school clubs may be cancelled at relatively short notice.  All cancellations will be communicated by our text message system.  Please keep your eyes open for updates.

In the event of a closure or updates on school opening, parents will be informed by the Teachers2parents text system and school website

Please do not ring to "check" or inform us of absentees until later in the morning so that the phone lines are open for staff and emergency information. Thank you.

All children who are to be five during this academic year are offered fulltime placements from the September.  Pupil Admissions are admistered by Essex County Council Admissions Department.-

School Organisation

The number of classes depends on the number of children on roll, and our intake is officially 45 per year.  This means that there are mixed year group classes throughout the school except in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Grange staff are particularly skilled in making every year in school successful and stimulating.

Home - School and Community Links

We aim to provide a stimulating environment, supported by caring and interested adults, in which your children will thrive.  The interest that parents show in their child's school life will encourage his/her development and reassure him/her of the close relationship between home and school.

Parents of children in the Foundation Stage are welcome to come into their child's classroom before their session starts to share a book.

The class teachers are happy to talk to parents about any issues or problems, but it is always important to make a mutually convenient appointment by letter or phone.

New Parents are most welcome to visit the school.  Arrangements can be made by appointment with the Head Teacher.

Parent and Teacher discussions take place in the Autumn and Spring terms.

‘Work Shares’ are held termly.

Parents are regularly invited to attend events such as performances, subject workshops, internet café, drumming workshop etc.

Many parents enjoy helping in school and we really value their contribution.  If you are interested in being a voluntary helper, please talk to your child’s class teacher (a D.B.S check will be necessary).
